I love working in a series--meaning, I take an idea or theme and make related works over time.
I love exploring ideas by creating a series of related works over time.
In this workshop, I will work with a cohort of 12 individuals over several weeks to explore what it means to develop and work in a series. guided by the prompts and discussions, each member will develop an individual approach for one (or more) creative series.
The cohort members will be partners in this journey. The goal is to support each other in exploration, experimentation, discovery and building confidence in forging an individual path.
Each session will have a topic focus—and each session will build on the previous discussions. I will also provide prompts to work with during the session.
Members will be encouraged to work on assignments between sessions in order to get maximum benefit.
Session topics include:
****What it means to Work in a Series
****Balancing planning with working without a net
****How to Use a 'starter idea', sketch or pattern
****The power of the Question to generate the next work in a series
****The value of focus—and tools for sustaining it
****The power of working with limits
****Parallel series—pros and cons
****Documentation! Journaling as an important tool
****Creative Dialogues: a positive and affirming form of reflection and creative challenge
