This workshop will be conducted LIVE over Zoom and will be recorded so that you can watch it again.
This is an improvisational piecing project that will give you lots of opportunity to play and have fun!!
I call this improvisational process fracturing the block because I use a series of straight cuts to slice apart a pieced block and then sew it back together.
Eventually the original nine patch design disappears and an improvisational patch block is what's left.
The modern quilt design principles you will practice are: asymmetry; negative space; alternate grid layout; using a modern color palette; and improvisation.
The block fracturing process that we use in the workshop is intentional and freeform with wonderfully unexpected results.
Here's a finished quilt made by Cindy--one of my students.
Isn't her color palette great!!
You can make this quilt in any color way that you like.
You can use solids, batiks, prints--even patriotic fabrics .
Possibilities are endless.
